La fête sera belle. Le programme de la Paris Freedom Fest est bouclé ; il propose 30 interventions passionnantes, variées, inspirées, décoiffantes, une émission radio, des tables rondes et des échanges, quand chacun pourra exprimer son opinion, interpeler les conférenciers et dialoguer avec les autres participants.
Les idées de liberté, de Droit et de responsabilité sont sans cesse attaquées. Faites le plein d’arguments nouveaux pour les contrer. Rechargez vos batteries… et faites la Fest !

You’re invited to the Paris Freedom Fest 2009, jointly sponsored by Libertarian International, Liberté Chérie, ISIL and The Manifesto Club.
The Freedom Fest will be held in Paris, 10–13 September 2009. Expect a memorable event. Crises and crunches have changed the public perception of the freedom movement. Now is the time to reflect, to redefine the issues and to restore confidence. Together with some leading lights of political philosophy, we will be introducing a new generation of activists and intellectual fighters — young, exciting, never-heard-before students and scholars. They explore radical ideas, they don’t shy from controversy, and they will change the conversation about freedom forever.
A conference is also the time when we catch up with foreign friends and make new ones. It is an inspirational moment, when we recharge our moral batteries.

PARIS FREEDOM FEST 2009
du jeudi 10 au dimanche 13 septembre à Paris
Cet évènement, qui viendra clore un été riche rencontres libérales, rassemblera des libéraux du monde entier dans la capitale française pour quatre jours d’échange et de réflexion dans une athmosphère décontractée avec des personnalités reconnues pour la qualité de leurs travaux.
Quatre jours d’un feu d’artifice d’idées percutantes et d’une grande bolée d’énergie avant la chaude rentrée syndicale et le long hiver politique. Les échanges se feront en anglais la journée et en français après 17 heures. Ce sera l’occasion de rencontrer les grands noms du libéralisme français et international comme

Kevin Dowd (Angleterre),
Frank van Dun (Belgique),
Butler Shaffer (États-Unis),
Philippe Simonnot (France),
Ken Scholland (États-Unis),
Alberto Mingardi (Italie),

Monday 14 – Tuesday 15 September.
Certain places are forever associated in our mind with political power, Versailles more than any other. But where there is oppression there is opposition, and it is appropriate for a libertarian conference to take in two landmarks of freedom in this iconic locus of power. On Tuesday, 15th September, our post-conference tour will visit the “real tennis court”, where on 20 June 1789 the deputies at the newly established National Assembly defied the King and took an oath never to separate until the country is given a constitution. Le ‘serment du jeu de paume’ was the failed attempt towards a liberal Revolution in France, 3 weeks before Bastille Day took the movement towards a violent conclusion.
Our second stop will be at the former Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Versailles, in the very room where on 12th December 1777 Franklin and Vergennes agreed the treaty whereby France would assist the Americans in their fight for independence.
Both the Jeu de Paume and the historic rooms in the Ministry (now a library) are not generally open to the public. We are privileged to have received special permission for these visits.
We will also tour the Palace itself and the newly delightfully restored Petit Trianon (note the restoration was paid for by the privately owned Breguet firm, who were the watchmakers to Marie-Antoinette). We’ll have an English-speaking guide, who will take us to rooms not opened to the public, and we’ll have time for a stroll in the park.
The day before, on Monday 14th September, we’ll visit two spectacular places where power failed, the still privately-owned Chateau of Vaux le Vicomte, which made Louis XIV so envious that he got the owner, his Finance Minister, Fouquet, arrested on the most spurious charges (only to go on and build Versailles, which is an inflated version of Vaux le Vicomte); and the grand Chateau of Fontainebleau, home of many sovereigns in exile, and where Napoleon abdicated in 1814.

Un parti politique est surtout fort de sa cohérence intellectuelle, de sa capacité à produire des idées et à argumenter pour les défendre. Autrement dit, pour un parti d’idées comme le nôtre, la constitution d’une véritable Université Libérale en son sein est essentielle.
